The active ingredient in Tylenol is acetaminophen, also called paracetamol in many other countries. It has been available without a prescription since 1959. In the 1980's, around the time of the so-called 1982 "Tylenol Murders", the production process changed to a more organic method. Recently, the production process has changed again. Seriously folks, the Tylenol we're taking now is not very similar to the Tylenol that was first available by prescription only.
I'd bet, quite safely, that the so-called "Tylenol Murders" was simply the result of unprocessed, excess potassium cyanide in the chemical manufacturing process. Simply a manufacturing error.
In the first decade of the 2000's, dangerous manufacturing issues at McNeil pharmaceuticals, a subsidiary of Johnson & Johnson, involved children's products contaminated with metal flakes, plastic particles, excess acetaminophen and/or mold due to defective manufacturing equipment and improper ingredient storage practices. The issues were likely the cause of death of 2-year-old River Moore, 9-week-old Markus Cherry and 2-week-old Tracen Sherfey and God knows how many other children likely dead from manufacturing issues at McNeil, a subsidiary of Johnson & Johnson. Imagine the horror of the moms who have to live with the fact that they killed their own babies with a 'trusted' product by Johnson & Johnson.
It seems the "Tylenol Murders" were nothing compared to the "Tylenol Murderers" - ya' think?
But wait, there's more...

The recent version of Tylenol is known to cause liver disease. Warnings are springing up all over the place including the United States Food and Drug Administration web site of liver disease caused by the active ingredient in Tylenol as well as other Johnson & Johnson cold remedy combination products.
New information also shows that Tylenol PM products cause profitable dementia and Alzheimer's disease in elderly patients. The damage may, or may not be, reversible.
The most recent information I've received regarding acetaminphen/paracetamol is its recently discovered link to autism by depleting glutathione levels. Considering liver and brain function impairment has already been noted, it's pretty obvious there are numerous, undisclosed, problems with paracetamol.
Tylenol works by using 'cannabinoid' receptors to block pain, promote muscle relaxation, stimulate appetite and cause drowziness. Hm, I wonder how much money Johnson & Johnson would lose on Tylenol if marijuana became legal? Not only on Tylenol, but also from the massive injuries caused by use of Tylenol as directed? Damn, dropping the rate of liver disease, elderly dementia and autism - would really plummet sales of a LOT of Johnson & Johnson and subsidiary known harmful drugs, eh?
